Q: How do I Transfer KTvid to my Windows Mobile Professional cell phone?
A:In order to transfer KTvidPPCv1.0 to your Windows Mobile Professional cell phone, synchronize your PC with your phone using ActiveSync.
NOTE: you must install ActiveSync on your PC before you connect your phone to the PC
Q: I just downloaded KTvidPPC to my Window’s Mobile cell phone, but I cannot find it. Where should I look?
A: Look under My Documents in File Folder. Click on the Microsoft flag (top left corner) and go to File Explorer on the drop down menu.
Q: I have an AT&T Tilt and can successfully call my KTvid buddy for a video chat, but he cannot call me. I am certain I gave him my correct IP address. Why can I call him, but he cannot call me?
A: If one of the cell phones or PCs is connected to the Internet over the AT&T/Cingular or T-Mobile cellular network, then that phone MUST call the other device. That is, the call must be made to a known public Internet Protocol (IP) address. [As of July, 2008, ATT and T-Mobile do not make public IP addresses available on their individual plans. We hope this will soon change]
Q: Why do I have to wait & wait to connect?
A: Depending upon the current usage of the data network in your area, it can take five to thirty seconds for the two-way connection to complete. [Greater usage =greater wait to connect]
Q: How can I stop the screen form going dark during while KTvid is connected?
A: In the Start Menu go to Settings >System>Backlight>Battery Power – uncheck box and click “OK”. Also go to Settings >System>Power>Advanced - uncheck the box “On battery power:” and click “OK”.
Q: Why did connection fail when I called my KTvid buddy back on the same IP address two hours after I completed my first call?
A: The IP addresses on the cellular network are “dynamic” and may change as frequently as each time the device is connected to the Internet.
Q: I would like to use KTvid on a camera phone with a forward-facing (display-side) camera. Which one should I purchase?
A: Currently, Windows Mobile Professional cellphones sold by carriers in the USA only have a camera on the rear (or back) of the cellphone. Outside of the USA, some Windows Mobile Professional Cellphones have 2 cameras, one on the front, and one on the rear. However, the camera on the front is blocked by the manufacturers from use in the USA for Video Chat applications. We will notify all KTvid licensees if this situation changes.
Q: Is there a limit on how many minutes I can use KTvid each month?
A: Your KTvid license allows for unlimited monthly use. HOWEVER, most cellular carriers limit use of their data network to no more than 5 GBytes per month. You can use KTvid at its default settings for approximately 100 hours per month without reaching the 5 GB limit.
Q: Why does the video on my Window’s Mobile device slow down or freeze when I try to transmit more than 6 frames per second when Video Dimensions are set to 120x120 or more than 2 frames per second when Video Dimensions are set to 240x240?
A: Because of microprocessor limitations on mobile devices such as cell phones, total frame rate (transmission reception) for KTvidPPC is currently restricted to not more than 12 frames per second (for example: 6 frames per second transmitted from each cell phone when Video Dimensions are set to 120x120 or 2 frames per second from each cell phone when Video Dimensions are set to 240x240.
Q: How can I correct the colors on the KTvid preview screen of my Window’s Mobile Professional 5.0 cell phone?
A: Exit KTvid and activate the camera function. Exit the camera and reactivate KTvid.
Q: What does the error message “Timed out waiting for threads (v 1, a 0)” mean?
A: An unexpected interruption in the connection has occurred. Click “OK” and reconnect.
Q: Why does the KTvid window not resize properly when I slide out the keyboard on my cell phone?
A: Different phone manufacturers implement Windows Mobile functions differently. We are working to make KTvid compatible with all the different implementations.
Q: Can more than one person connect to me simultaneously using KTvid?
A: No. KTvidTM utilizes TCP/IP, which supports only one-to-one video chat.
Q: Sometimes on a lengthy conversation (longer than 15 minutes) I notice that the video begins to lag the audio. Can this be corrected?
A: Because KTvid transmits audio and video on separate threads, a gradual loss of synchronicity over time between video and audio may become noticeable. An update to interlace the threads and retain synchronicity is in the works.
